Star Party!

As part of our annual Starlight Festival here in SW Nova we will be hosting a star party at the Deep Sky Eye Observatory.

When: Friday September 27 - 6:00pm to 11:30pm (rain Date Saturday 28th)
Where:  Deep Sky Eye Observatory
- parking at 237 Frotten Rd with shuttle to/from observatory
Admission: $2 / person. A donation will be made to The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC)


  • Bring your own chair :)

  • Dress Warm

Tentative Schedule:

  • 6pm - 7pm:

    • BBQ Fund raiser by Quinan Fire Department

    • Using a Star Finder- (outside at the observatory)

    • Solar Observing

  • 6:30pm: Welcome Message by Tim - (outside the observatory)

  • 7:00pm: Star Finder Activity - (group activity, starts at the observatory)

  • 7:30pm: Guest Speaker: Paul Grey & Nathan Gray - (outside at the observatory)

  • 8:30pm: Door Prize draws. YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN!

  • 8:30pm: Bon Fire (tentative)

  • 9:00pm: Telescope stargazing - (at the observatory and outside)

The event will go ahead even if skies are cloudy.  If rain is in the forecast the event will be moved to Saturday. Keep an eye out here for details.


Cost / Payment

  • $2 per person. Pay at the door.
