the night sky (30-40 minutes)

Outside, under the beauty of the Milky Way, learn to navigate the night sky using points of reference such as Polaris (North Star) and various constellations.

Enjoy a 3D tour of the solar system (Orrery) and stories of the constellations using the National Geographic Night Sky Odyssey augmented reality headset. Headset and software is yours to keep and enjoy forever (Included with purchase of General Admission ticket only.)

Click the link below to learn about the technology.

Telescope (30-60 minutes)

Back in the observatory dome, you'll learn the techniques for peering through a telescope (yes there is a technique). See planets, nebulae, and distant galaxies close up! (depending on visibility and time of year certain objects are not visible).

If the skies are cloudy during your visit you have two choices:

  1. Instead of using the telescope, we offer the 3D tour of the solar system using the National Geographic Night Sky Odyssey headset. Standard rates apply.

  2. Reschedule/Cancel your booking, at no cost on or before 5:00pm the day of the experience.

In the event of rain or other extreme weather, the event will be cancelled and tickets will be refunded.

  1. Know how to turn off the flash of your device.

  2. Know how to switch between 'Photo' mode (taking pictures) and 'Video' mode (record a movie).

  3. If you are using a DSLR camera or compact camera you will want to familiarize yourself with it's specific features - M (manual mode) and how to focus to infinity.
