Admission: $2 / person. A donation will be made to The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC)
As part of our 6th annual Starlight Festival here in SW Nova we will be hosting a star party at the Deep Sky Eye Observatory.
5pm - 7pm:
BBQ Fund raiser by Quinan Fire Department - (location TBD)
East Coast Paddle demonstration and tryout - (down at the river by the camp fire area)
Kids craft by Amanda - (outside at the observatory)
Moon Impact Crater experiment
Solar Observing with special telescopes
6:00pm: Welcome Message by Tim - (outside the observatory)
6:15pm: Building a scale model of the solar system by Anita - (group activity, starts at the observatory)
7:30pm: John Read - An Introduction To the Wondrous Night Sky - (outside at the observatory)
8:30pm: Door Prize draws. YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN!
8:30pm: Bon Fire (tentative), story telling by the Métis community.
9:00pm - Telescope stargazing by John, Brenda, & Tim - (at the observatory and outside)
Door Prizes include gift certificates, binoculars, & a Meade LightBridge Mini 114
The event will go ahead even if skies are cloudy. If rain is in the forecast the event will be cancelled.
NOTE: BYOC - Bring your own chair :)
